MATRIX BY L'OREAL GLOBAL SALON CONCEPT
ROLLING OUT THE RED CARPET
Beauty salons that give clients the star treatment attract a base of die-hard customers and no small share of media hype. Whether in New York or Tokyo, everyone appreciates high-touch service—a concept that L’Oreal, as a brand, stands behind. For the Global Salon Concept for Matrix—a line of L’Oreal products distributed around the world—Orange22 literally rolled out the red carpet. “We knew that this salon concept would be implemented in locations around the world,” says Antonioni. “So we needed a symbol that would easily translate across cultures. We found that symbol in Hollywood.”
MATRIX MODULARITY
The length of red carpet along the floor draws in visitors and hints at the quality of care they’ll receive within. As they follow its path, clients arrive at Orange22’s “Product Pad,” a display system on which all the brand’s hair care products are featured. The Pad divides a waiting lounge from the service zone and becomes an important touch-point, where consumers can learn about all the Matrix line has to offer.
To enhance L’Oreal’s capacity to launch stores in various cities worldwide, Orange22 engineered the Horizon Module, a wraparound panel that can be easily installed in any space, large or small. Each functional component in the salon—from the recliners and mirrors to the washbasins—slides into the Horizon’s panel system, onto which product information can be projected in any language.
