NATURAL INSPIRATION
Nature is the most accessible form of beauty—as free as the air we breathe. The beauty of modern design, on the other hand, leans more toward exclusivity. So when Antonioni became determined to close that gap—creating a line of modern furniture with appealing price points—he found no more appropriate visual and conceptual source of inspiration than nature itself.
The Botanist Series, created by Antonioni and designer Brandon Lynne, includes a cocktail table, nesting end table, and bench—sleek metal forms into which Orange22 cuts botanical graphic patterns with waterjet technology. The automated engineering process ensures that manufacturing remains within the U.S. By extension, the products remain within financial reach for design lovers.
EVOLUTIONARY LINE
For Antonioni and Lynne, the forms offer the freedom of blank canvasses, with endless opportunities to update each with new graphics, colors and surface materials, including wood veneers. As nature shifts throughout the year, so, too, does the Botanist series change its look and feel. “The Botanist Series takes on the energy of fashion,” says Lynne, “evolving and reincarnating itself from season to season.”
Currently available in four powder-coated colors, for which the waterjet patterns are available, or two real wood veneers, the forms can be mixed and matched easily to coordinate with a variety of environments. That includes the outdoors: Using industrial-grade enamels and aluminum, which naturally resist corrosion, the powder-coated pieces are ready to beautify your yard or patio.
BOTANIST PARTERS
The Botanist Series also offers the opportunity to devise collaborative product offerings with internationally renowned designers and artists, who will leave their imprints on the series through custom-designed graphics. In the future, you’ll be able to select not just your favorite pattern within the Botanist series, but your favorite designer.
As Orange22 lines up global designer-partners to contribute to the next generation of iconic Botanist offerings, a percentage of profits will be donated to organizations in arts education.
